The beginning
Harry Davidson started the business in 1939 as Acme Lumber and Plumbing Supply Co. at 1053 Bank Street in Akron, Ohio.

Allen Lewis married Sylvia Davidson, Harry’s daughter, in the 1940s and joined Acme in the early 1960s.

Randy Lewis, Allen & Sylvia’s son, joined Acme Fence in 1969.

Harry Davidson retired in 1970 giving the reins over to Allen.
Allen changed the name to A.C.M.E.
In 1987, Allen transitioned the company to Randy and then retired three years later in 1990.
Randy took over and changed the name of the company to Acme Fence & Lumber.

Donny Zigdon married his wife Ketti, Randy’s niece, in 2006.

Randy transitioned Acme Fence to Donny in 2023.

Donny dropped the & lumber changing the name to Acme Fence. Today, the company’s mission is to create peace-of-mind by providing built-to-last, beautiful fences and gates for homes, businesses, governments and organizations.
