Supporting the Community & Celebrating 85 Years: It’s Not Just About Backyard Fences for Dogs
As we finish our 85th anniversary celebrations this year, our fourth generation, family business is delighted to partner with our nationally-recognized, Akron neighbors, One of a Kind Pet Rescue. The nonprofit group, founded in 2005 by a private individual, thrives on volunteers and donations and currently adopts out 5,000 animals each year.

“We love pets. Dogs and cats! Everybody loves pets!” Said Donny Zigdon, Acme Fence’s fourth generation owner who took control from the third generation in late 2023. “Seriously, One of a Kind Pet Rescue does excellent work in our community. From their reduced fee spay and neuter clinics and veterinary care to their no-time-limit shelter. We support their mission and are very excited about our partnership,” Zigdon added.
Backyard Fences for Dogs at the Pet Rescue
One of A Kind Pet Rescue is dedicated to saving animal lives, rescuing pets in imminent danger of euthanasia, spaying/neutering and adoption of homeless animals into appropriate, loving homes. They are a no-time-limit shelter and no adoptable animal is euthanized. Many of their animals come from Animal Control Facilities (the pound) just prior to their scheduled euthanasia.
Often, Good Samaritans drop off sick and injured animals and those are given priority. On occasion, when space is available, the organization will accept owner surrenders and strays.
“We are delighted to partner with Acme Fence,” said Tanya Jonda, executive director of One of a Kind Pet Rescue. “In addition to sponsoring a Puppy Dog Birthday Party for a deserving local charity, Acme Fence will be doing what they do best, upgrading and providing new backyard fences for the dogs at One of a Kind Pet Rescue,” Jonda added.
